Greg Walsh with KettlebellGreg Walsh is the owner and head trainer at Wolf Brigade, headquartered in Rochester, NY. The gym holds group Strength & Conditioning classes containing all levels of strong-minded individuals 6 days a week. Greg also offers private training in fitness, Muay Thai kickboxing, grappling, and self-defense.

In addition, Greg provides specialized group training for LEO, military, and fire personnel. Greg has worked with LE and FD organizations on both Coasts to direct training, conduct seminars, consult on programming and movement standards, and to execute Wolf Brigade-style fitness programs in academy classes. Greg has earned instructor certifications in CrossFit, Kettlebell Lifting, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Submission Wrestling. He has trained with some of the best in the world in each discipline. He is the most experienced CrossFit trainer in the Rochester area, beginning work in the program in 2002. He has successfully competed in Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, and Submission Wrestling.

Much more relevant than any paper certifications are Greg’s experiences as an athlete and trainer. He has immersed himself for over a decade in the disciplines he now teaches, and has relied on quality of instruction not quantity of decoration to build a strong clientele. Brought up in a “learn-before-you-do” manner, Greg had written programs, scaled motions, and been made to teach to the widest and most challenging demographics possible before ever being allowed to manage a group or execute a program.

Having a special fondness for the concept of skill and strength transfer from fitness training to grappling and kickboxing, Greg is the only trainer in the Rochester area that properly utilizes use maces, hammers, and the Odd Lifts movements of Kettlebell lifting.

Greg has a unique ability to convey even the most challenging concepts, refine conventional teaching strategies, and develop motions and tools that accommodate all and elicit progress from any level athlete. Along with a specific focus on the mental as well as the physical, Greg’s attention to detail and time-developed expertise have allowed Wolf Brigade to set itself far apart from any other gym in Western New York. Indeed, Greg’s programming has garnered national attention and he has a regular series on Breaking Muscle that shares Wolf Brigade-training.
