“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
George Bernard Shaw
Truly a thought-provoking quote- I am pretty sure that most of us fall on both sides of the equation at various times. I know I sure do.
As much as I consider myself adaptable, I also, sometimes at great length, try to change the landscape around me.
Which has more merit? Is the usually positive term “reasonable”, in this sentence, used to refer to someone who has given up- or given IN to reason- and stopped progressing?
Is our journey down the path of most resistance unreasonable?
Is unreasonable, for the sake of progress and not ego, a bad thing?
